Ocado to open Old Street tech hub

Ocado is expanding its network of development hubs to London, creating around 300 new jobs in the process.

The office, in Old Street, lines up alongside other ones in Hatfield, Bulgaria, Spain and two in Poland. It will start as home to 40 software engineers, with plans to bring the total to around 300 “in the near future”. 260 of those roles will be new technology jobs. The engineers will work with artificial intelligence, machine learning, Big Data, simulation and cloud platforms.

Ocado’s Smart Platform, a solution designed to power all aspects of a retailer's e-commerce business, has been licenced by such grocers as Morrisons in the UK, Groupe Casino in France and Sobeys in Canada.
