Bossa Nova inventory robots roll out in 1,000 Walmart stores
Bossa Nova Robotics is on track to bring its shelf-scanning inventory robot to 1,000 Walmart stores in the US.
It will add 650 more loactions to its current number of 350, with the project set for completion this summer. The startup announced an initial deal with Walmart back in 2017, kicking off with 50 robots.
The six-foot-tall devices, each equipped with 15 cameras, roam aisles and send alerts to store employees’ handheld devices when items are out-of-stock.
NCR, which supplies Walmart with cash registers and self-checkout kiosks, will take care of the installation and upkeep of the robots.
