Groupe Casino enlists Shekel Brainweigh for automated store pilot
French retailer Groupe Casino is working with Shekel Brainweigh on an automated store situated at its Monoprix HQ in Clichy, Hauts-de-Seine, near Paris.
The customer swipes their payment card to enter the store. A weighing technology based on IoT and AI, developed by Shekel Brainweigh, allows the store management system to identify the products taken. The customer then needs to validate their basket in order to exit.
The 18 sqm store offers more than 300 products, mainly snacking and hygiene related, available 24/7. The target audience is people who want to eat on the go or shop when traditional stores are closed.
The concept is being tested by Monoprix employees under the monop’ banner. It will be set up in a location accessible to the public by the end of the year. Discussions are ongoing with places like airports, hospitals and company headquarters.
