Moonpig names e-commerce heavyweight as MD

Online cards, gifts and flowers retailer Moonpig has appointed Nickyl Raithatha as Managing Director.

He joins off the back of founding and scaling UK fashion brand Finery to £15 million in under three years. Prior to that, he was CEO of E-commerce at Rocket Internet, and ran TMT investments for a $5 billion hedge fund. He takes over from James Sturrock who is pursuing a focus on earlier stage growth companies.

"I can’t wait to start building on the momentum of this much-loved brand, bringing special moments to even more customers,” says Raithatha. “The opportunity to take this business to new heights through continued product and technological innovation is huge, and I’m excited to be part of the journey."

Elsewhere, Ronan Tighe joins Moonpig, part of Photobox Group, in the newly created role of Chief Product Officer, looking after digital product and UX. He previously headed up Product Management at Net-a-Porter and Mr Porter. Simon Doggett is taking on the role of Head of Experience Design (his CV includes design leadership roles at Farfetch and M&S) and Jo McClintock Brand Marketing Director after five years at Lebara, where she led the brand through its sale to a private equity firm.
