Cryptocurrencies? Harry Redknapp is in
A new cryptocurrency has found an unlikely fan in football manager and pundit, Harry Redknapp.
Jamie Dimon, the Chief Executive of JP Morgan, might not be onboard, recently slamming Bitcoin as a fraud. But the former West Ham United, Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur and Birmingham City manager Redknapp tweeted yesterday that he was “proper excited” about Electroneum, a new crypocurrency being launched in the UK. “I’m in. Get involved,” he urged his followers.
Such enthusiasm for this brave new world surprised many, given that Redknapp usually discusses football on the social media platform. But as speculation swirled that he had been paid for a shameless plug, Electroneum tweeted: ‘Harry has bought some Electroneum and isn't being paid for this - he's just excited as are the other 70,000 @electroneum buyers so far”.
Next up, Harry takes a break from discussing why West Ham are hopeless this season to get proper excited about AI, IoT and VR. Possibly.
