Toys R Us is working with Mirakl to launch an online marketplace for the Toy R Us and Babies R Us businesses on its North American sites.
Set for roll-out in 2018, this will allow companies to sell on the aforementioned sites. The marketplace will also enable the retailer, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September, to leverage data from third party products and sellers to identify potential new retail partners and influence the company's in-store offerings.
“As the leading toy and baby retailer, customers expect us to have the latest and greatest assortment of products available. The marketplace model provides the opportunity to accomplish just that,” says Lance Wills, Toys R Us’ Global Chief Technology Officer.
