10 years of Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime, which provides members with the likes of unlimited one-day delivery and streaming of thousands of movies and TV episodes and over two million songs, turns 10 today.

To mark 10 years of the service in the UK, the e-commerce giant has revealed its greatest hits and highlights over the last decade with Adele’s album 25, the Fire TV Stick, the Frozen DVD and Cards Against Humanity amongst the most purchased items through one-day delivery. The most watched Amazon Prime Originals on Prime Video include Transparent, The Grand Tour and The Man in the High Castle while the most popular songs on Prime Music are Uptown Funk, Get Lucky and All About That Bass

Also to celebrate the milestone, Amazon has identified 10 small UK villages as ‘Prime Villages’, including Daresbury, Kirkton of Tough and Marloes. The villages, whose residents have been amongst the company’s most frequent customers over the past decade, will receive Prime membership for one year including existing Prime members, who will receive 12 months on top of their current subscription. Select households will also be chosen at random to receive a trip to London and a pair of exclusive Amazon Lounge tickets to a show at The O2.

“We’re thrilled to be giving Prime membership to these residents, who are some of our most loyal Amazon customers,” says Doug Gurr, UK Country Manager, Amazon. “It’s our pleasure to reward those who are already members with 12 additional months on us, and for those that haven’t yet tried Prime we hope they will enjoy a chance to experience all the great benefits that come with it.”
