New Cineworld cinema helps take White Rose to next level

Cineworld has opened a new 11-screen multiplex cinema with IMAX at Landsec’s White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds. This represents the completion of Landsec’s 65,000 sq ft leisure extension to White Rose, named the Village, which included the provision of six new restaurants, now let to Five Guys, Limeyard, Chiquito, Wagamama, TGI Fridays and Pizza Hut, and investment in public spaces.

The cinema includes a Baskin and Robbins ice cream counter and a Starbucks, and incorporates external walls covered in LED lights that can change colour to provide a constantly new environment for moviegoers. Rob Jewell, Portfolio Director, Retail, Landsec, comments: “The creation of the Village has taken White Rose to the next level in terms of the range of retail and leisure experiences it offers to guests. Visitors can now enjoy a full range of daytime and evening shopping, dining and entertainment experiences at White Rose.”

Wayfinding and signage has also been improved and a dedicated staff car park for the 3,500 on-site employees created, alongside the installation of electric car charging points for customers. And 2,902 PV solar panels have been installed on the roof, the largest installation on a shopping centre in the UK.
