Last week we reported that Android Pay was on its way to Canada. And now we can confirm that it has launched in the country,
Google’s mobile payments service will be available for customers of ATB Financial, Banque Nationale, BMO, Canadian Tire Financial Services, CIBC, Desjardins, President’s Choice Financial and Scotiabank, with more banks set to join them further down the line. It works with Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards, as well as Interac debit cards from approved organisations. Support for American Express and Tangerine cards will follow soon.
Canada is the 12th country to adopt the offering, lining up alongside the likes of the US, UK, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan, Republic of Ireland and Belgium.
