Sainsbury’s snaps up Nectar
Sainsbury’s has bought the Nectar loyalty card business from Aimia for £60 million as it looks to “know its customers better than anyone else”.
The retailer has been part of the Nectar scheme since it launched in 2002. Catherine Shuttleworth, CEO at Savvy, says: “It’s an interesting move by Sainsbury’s to buy Nectar and take total responsibility for their customer loyalty scheme moving forwards. There’s a real strategic advantage here and it demonstrates that loyalty is anything but dead.”
