No C&A for UK as new online store goes live
C&A has launched a new English language, EU shop, delivering to customers in Croatia, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, where the retailer has branches. It also serves Denmark, Finland, Greece and Sweden, where it is not represented. The move extends the reach of C&A’s e-commerce activities from 9 to 20 countries.
"This additional online store is the next big step in expanding our online activities," says Dr. Andreas Hammer, Director E-Commerce Europe. "We know that many people from these countries regret that they cannot order our fashion online. The launch of the EU shop is good news for them.”
Note the UK’s absence. In 2000, C&A, for so long a major player in the British market, announced its intention to withdraw and its last stores here closed in 2001. It currently has more than 1,500 stores in 18 European countries, as well as a presence in Brazil, Mexico and China.
