Yves Saint Laurent Beauté smashes Tmall record
Yves Saint Laurent Beauté has set a new record for the most sales by a beauty brand, in its first day of operations on Chinese B2C shopping platform, Tmall.
The L’Oreal-owned company generated over RMB 30 million ($4.77 million) in sales in its first 14 hours on Monday. Ten hours later, it had reached RMB 38 million, with the store’s followers hitting 1.2 million. The previous single-day record, RMB 29 million, was held by Givenchy, which made its Tmall debut in March.
“Opening the official flagship store will propel online-to-offline innovation and further solidify our leadership position in China’s cosmetics [industry], as well as drive our global strategy forward,” says Xavier Dunruil, Deputy General Manager at YSL Beauté Worldwide.
