Sainsbury’s makes same day delivery and Tu/Argos moves
Sainsbury’s has launched a same day delivery groceries service.
There is a cut off of 12pm on the day of delivery or collection and a £25 minimum order value on orders. Orders over £40 will be charged a delivery fee which will vary according to the chosen slot. Those under £40 will cost a maximum of £9. There is no charge for same day orders over £100 booked for delivery on Monday to Thursday after 2pm.
The launch closely follows an announcement that the Tu clothing range will soon be available from Argos. From 25th April customers can order online by 2pm for next day home delivery or free Click & Collect from 1,100 Sainsbury’s and Argos stores. There will be no minimum order size and returns will be free at any location.
Tu contributes close to £1 billion of annual sales to the Sainsbury’s group. Whilst Argos is now the third most visited retail website in the UK, with 60% of sales originating online. Mike Coupe, group chief executive, Sainsbury’s, says: “We know that customers are increasingly shopping for clothes online and that they love the convenience of being able to collect them from a store. When we bought Argos we always knew that we wanted to enable customers to buy Tu clothing from Argos so this is a major milestone for us. We hope Argos customers embrace the Tu range in the way that Sainsbury’s customers have over the past ten years.”
