Gap talks transformation, tech and leadership

Gap Chief Financial Officer, Teri List-Stoll and Chief Information Officer, Sally Gilligan, have been sharing how they are transforming operations and leveraging data with the help of the Microsoft Cloud.

By leveraging AI and machine learning, Gap is focusing more on simplifying work for employees and evolving its operational systems. For example, 50% of the retailer’s merchandise assortment is now demand-based, compared to a traditional seasonal push. It says that it is able to deliver this at scale because it has built distributed computing into its inventory management systems and is using machine learning and different algorithms to help them test and learn.
