Sprouts Farmers Market jumps from Amazon Prime to Instacart

US healthy food retailer Sprouts Farmers Market has moved its delivery service from Amazon Prime Now to Instacart.

Its partnership with the latter became operational in 16 stores during the first quarter of 2018 and will continue to expand to other markets. “We built the Amazon business over a two-year period…When you turn off one system, you obviously have some transition headwinds,” says CFO Brad Lukow. “But we’re feeling really good about the business model and how the customers are responding to it.”

Sprouts Farmers Market grew net sales 14% to $1.3 billion and comparable store sales 2.7% in the first quarter of 2018. It opened nine new stores: three in Arizona, two in New Mexico and one each in California, North Carolina, Florida and its first one in the state of Maryland. Four additional stores have been opened in the second quarter to date, resulting in a total of 298 in 16 states as of 3rd May.
