The Chinese e-commerce giant, which has been investing heavily in logistics and retail tech to expand beyond China and Southeast Asia, also wants to open an office in Germany this year, Chief Executive Richard Liu told German newspaper the Handelsblatt daily.
"For me it's no longer just about selling products from Germany in China. I would also like to sell products in Europe," Liu said. "We have just got to clarify the details."
Takeovers are also a possibility. "If we see a good opportunity then we will seize it," Liu commented.
