Amazon makes Homebase stores bid
Written By Staff Writer
Amazon has emerged as a bidder for a number of stores being offloaded by Homebase as part of a major overhaul of its business.
The DIY chain plans to close 42 of its 241 sites through a company voluntary arrangement (CVA). For Amazon, this opens the door to boost its delivery arm.
“The shortage of warehouse stock in the UK means retailers in need of warehouses are being forced to look at alternative properties. Homebase stores are also located in urban areas, making it easier to deliver goods to customers more quickly,” The Telegraph reports.
