Amazon 4-star hits New York

Amazon yesterday opened the first ever Amazon 4-star physical store in SoHo, New York.

Everything for sale is rated four stars, is a top seller, or is new and trending on Amazon.com. “We created Amazon 4-star to be a place where customers can discover products they will love. Its selection is a direct reflection of our customers—what they’re buying and what they’re loving,” the company says.

Throughout the store there are features like “Most-Wished-For,” a collection of products that are most added to Amazon.com Wish Lists; “Trending Around NYC,” hot products that NYC-area customers are buying on Amazon.com; “Frequently Bought Together”; and “Amazon Exclusives.”

The bricks and mortar move builds on the Amazon Go offering. The e-commerce giant could be looking to open as many as 3,000 of these cashierless stores in the next few years, according to a report by Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter.

Amazon declined to comment. It currently has four Amazon Go stores in play, three in Seattle and one in Chicago and is also looking at San Francisco and New York.
