Is the Co-op finally getting serious about online selling?

The Co-op could be set for a major online push following a key e-commerce appointment.

Chris Conway, whose CV includes stints as Head of Online at Morrisons and Senior Director - Grocery E-commerce at Asda, came onboard as its Head of Digital last year but his title has now changed to Head of Digital and E-commerce. The Co-op has also been advertising for project managers to ‘help land some massive changes across the business over the next few years’.

It has been testing out grocery deliveries in Milton Keynes via Starship Technologies robots. And the retailer has also launched a trial in 12 branches involving delivery of items bought in-store, using local taxis and couriers.

Neither Conway nor the Co-op have commented on the change to his job title.
