John McAfee teases ‘first crypto debit card accepted everywhere’

Tech magnate and crypto advocate John McAfee is prepping a Bitcoin debit card.

He announced on Twitter that the Visa-branded card is coming soon. “You load it with Bitcoin then use it anywhere. We convert to local currencies,” he said. According to McAfee, users will be able to spend Bitcoin anywhere Visa is accepted.

The front of the card features a McAfee mug shot over an American flag background with broken chains inside the stripes. “Only the first 12,000 have my image on it. After that, all cards shipped will be plain. My haters will have to wait,” he tweeted. There is also a plug for his 2020 US presidential campaign. The back of the card, meanwhile, includes a QR code for a Bitcoin deposit address.

We should at this point flag up that McAfee has a history of making grand statements on social media. He recently claimed that he knows the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, but has yet to reveal all. And he has also said that, if Bitcoin isn’t worth $1 million per coin by 2020, he will “eat his dick live on national television”.

But if this card is the real deal, then it is definitely one to watch.
