McDonald’s trials takeaway store for city workers

McDonald's is testing out a ‘To Go' store in Fleet Street, London.

This involves a smaller format and the removal of in-store seating. The focus is purely on takeaways, with favourites such as Big Macs, McNuggets and Big Flavour Wraps available on a reduced menu. Orders will be taken on touchscreens, with speedy delivery the name of the game.

Henry Trickey, Senior Vice President for Development and IT at McDonald’s, says: “In Fleet Street, where city workers are looking for something quick to grab and go, it makes sense to test a smaller format. We know that one size doesn’t fit all and that’s exactly why we are launching To Go - to allow us to trial different formats in different locations, depending on customer needs.”

McDonald’s is weighing up options for other To Go stores, which “could look very different” from the Fleet Street branch when catering for different customer needs.
