Specsavers offers Ashes hero Jack Leach free glasses for life
Ashes sponsor Specsavers has announced on Twitter that it will offer Jack Leach “free glasses for life” after the bowler kept his wicket intact to help Ben Stokes and England to a remarkable Ashes victory on Sunday.
The bespectacled spinner joined Stokes at the crease in the third Test with England on the ropes. They were 286 for nine, 73 runs from victory and the Ashes were heading back Down Under. Leach dug in, occasionally wiping his glasses clean in between deliveries, as Stokes played a blinder to reach the target of 359 and level the series at 1-1.
Specsavers then posted on its Twitter account: “Does anybody know Jack Leach’s agent? Asking for a friend…”
Stokes responded: “Jack Leach……..@Specsavers do your self a favour and give him free glasses for life @jackleach1991.”
Specsavers replied: “We can confirm we will offer Jack Leach free glasses for life.”
England bowler Stuart Broad, meanwhile, called for cleaning cloths to be a part of the deal.
Well played, Specsavers. And Ben Stokes and Jack Leach…RTIH salutes you, you absolute legends!
