Walmart Health Centre debuts in Dallas, Georgia

Walmart has opened its first ever standalone facility devoted to health and wellness.

Located in Dallas, Georgia, adjacent to a remodelled Walmart supercentre, the 10,000-sq. ft. facility offers such services as primary care, laboratory tests, X-rays and diagnostics, counselling, dental, optical, hearing, health insurance information and enrolment, and community health education with online education and in-centre workshops. A second location, in Calhoun, Georgia, is scheduled to open early next year.

The retailer says that it is using technology to streamline the process to schedule, check-in, pay, get an estimate on the cost of services and do other activities without paperwork. “The issues of healthcare affordability and accessibility are two of the greatest and most prevalent concerns in our country today,” says Sean Slovenski, SVP and President, Health and Wellness, Walmart US.

“Helping families save money so they can live better is at the heart of Walmart’s business, and we have bold ambitions to partner with great providers and find solutions to deliver quality health services at low, transparent pricing to our customers in a way that is convenient for them, making ‘live better’ the norm.”
