JioMart unveiled as Mukesh Ambani takes on e-commerce big hitters
A conglomerate fronted by Asia's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, is launching a grocery delivery service that aims to compete with Amazon and Walmart in India.
Reliance Retail and Reliance Jio, two subsidiaries of Ambani’s Reliance Industries, have soft launched JioMart.
The venture will connect local stores to customers via an app rather than providing and delivering the goods itself. It is currently working with neighbourhood stores in parts of the state of Maharashtra — Navi Mumbai, Kalyan and Thane.
