Amazon eyes German bricks and mortar move

Amazon is circling the idea of physical stores in Germany, its second biggest market after the United States.

“The fact is that we know that customers shop offline and that they like variety,” Ralf Kleber, Amazon’s head honcho in the country, told German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.

He did not give further details, but added that Amazon wants to push shopping via its Alexa voice-controlled devices. The Echo Dot device is available at a low price in a bid to encourage widespread adoption.

Amazon already has a physical presence in the US and UK, including Whole Foods and its Amazon Go cashierless stores.
