There ain’t no party like an Aldi UK 30th birthday party
Aldi UK celebrated its 30th birthday on Twitter last night. And it was epic.
The German discounter launched in Great Britain on 5th April 1990, when it opened its first store in Stechford, Birmingham. It recently announced plans to invest £1.3 billion in new stores and jobs after posting rising sales during the coronavirus pandemic.
The retailer expects to open around 100 new stores over 2020 and 2021 in line with its long-term target of 1,200 by 2025, alongside over 100 store upgrades under its Project Fresh initiative.
Other investments include new and expanded distribution centres and the roll-out of its Click and Collect service.
To mark 30 years in the UK and as part of its ‘no one cares that it’s our 30th birthday’ campaign, Aldi hit Twitter to have some fun at the expense of various retailers, including John Lewis.
.@jlandpartners, take a break from this year’s sad Christmas ad and have a little fun with us. Bring the penguin, we liked him #Aldi30thBirthdayParty
