Coronavirus strikes again as Dunelm closes all stores

Dunelm has become the latest UK retailer to close its stores amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“The right thing to do now is to act to protect eachother - our colleagues, our customers and the communities we live and work in. In light of that, we have decided to temporarily close all of our stores from today,“ Nick CEO Nick Wilkinson said in an email to customers.

Staff members will continue to fulfil customer orders at stores as part of the retailer’s contact-free Click and Collect service. “We will be working hard to passionately, in whatever way we can, support the communities we work with, including continuing to make food, which we would have sold in our cafes, available to local colleagues and communities in need,” Wilkinson commented.

The safest option, he added, is to switch to online shopping. “It is completely contact-free and we’ve more than halved the minimum order value for free standard delivery to £20.”

Other retailers who have closed their stores include Primark, McDonald’s, Waterstones and Best Buy.
