Proper launches coronavirus supermarket legends campaign

British snack company Proper is calling on the British public to thank the thousands of supermarket workers currently driving lorries, manning tills and filling shelves amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Its campaign invites people to nominate the #supermarketlegend they think deserves a lift. Over the next two weeks, Proper will be delivering a month’s worth of snacks to various workers via its Instagram account.

It has also penned a thank you in the form of a poem, which will also feature as part of the personalised gifts sent to the aforementioned people.

Comments on Proper’s Instagram account include: “My husband is a retail manager at Tesco King’s Cross and does early morning shifts so opens the store every day. He is my hero wakes up at 4am every day always upbeat and welcoming to his shoppers. He loves Proper popcorn so it would be such a great reward for him.”

And: “My auntie works in Asda, everyday she is taking mouthfuls of abuse from panic/bulk buyers forgetting that these supermarket workers have families too that they are also trying to keep safe.”

Supermarket workers across the UK, and around the world, we salute you!
