iZettle teams with UN Women UK for gender equality campaign

PayPal owned FinTech firm iZettle and UN Women UK have joined a month long campaign for gender equality involving student societies at UK universities.

Taking place in March, this will aim to raise awareness on campuses and in communities, with funds raised going to support UN Women’s mission of empowering women and girls in the UK and across the world.

Each university society has received a fundraising toolkit consisting of ideas, social media support and advice, and iZettle card readers, allowing them to accept cashless donations.

Sara Arildsson, VP, Head of Operations at iZettle, says: “We believe in the power of women. We want to celebrate those campaigning for equality, while giving practical advice and the tools needed to make a real impact.”

“Last year, we released the book Women Transforming Tech to inspire the next generation, and this year we want them to take action. With the fundraising toolkit, young trailblazers can accept contactless donations and encourage the public to simply “tap to tip” the scales for a more equal future.”

As of 1st March, students at the following universities are participating: University of Warwick, University of Hull, University of Cambridge, University of Kent, University of Exeter, Imperial College London, University of Sheffield, University of St Andrews, University of Nottingham, Newcastle University.
