The Football Pools appoints new Chief Technology Officer
Richard George has taken on the role of Chief Technology Officer at football gaming company The Football Pools.
His CV includes stints at Shop Direct (as Head of Engineering), The Hut Group (Senior Engineering Manager) and Amazon Fulfilment Services (Manager Software Development).
The Football Pools was once a staple of the British Saturday teatime, as families crowded around TVs and radios and hoped for a win. The National Lottery came close to killing it off, but hundreds of thousands of people still take part in the hope of scooping the top prize payout. The company has also introduced new offerings in a bid to stay relevant in these omnichannel times.
“The Pools has been around since 1923 when formed by John Moore in Liverpool. Purchased by OpCapita a couple of years ago, we are now rebuilding the brand with a mix of classic games and exciting new ways to play,” he said in a LinkedIn post.
“I am taking over from Martin King. I would like to thank Martin for making the handover smooth and the solid sate in which he leaves the team,” he added.
