InPost UK lands Lidl parcel lockers deal

InPost UK has rolled out its parcel lockers at 24 Lidl stores.

This includes sites in London, Birmingham and Manchester and allows shoppers to collect online orders and also send parcels. InPost UK has partnered with carriers such as Hermes, DHL Express and DX and retailers like Boohoo, JD Group and Holland and Barrett.

Jason Tavaria, CEO at InPost, says: “With current lockdown guidance limiting how and when people can leave the house, it is vital that they are able to maximise each trip and not make unnecessary additional journeys.”

“Installing delivery lockers at one of the UK’s best loved supermarkets allows them to do this and also provides a useful, contact-free outbound resource at a time when many Post Offices are closed.”

He adds: “The positive feedback we’ve already had from customers shows they’re open to change, with trip-chaining becoming more common and demonstrating the demand for greater integration between how people work, shop and play.”

Coronavirus initiative

Lidl Ireland is launching a WhatsApp chatbot to help people shop at the quietest periods during the coronavirus outbreak.

“Just send a message with the day and time you intend to visit and it’ll instantly let you know whether that’s a quieter/average/busier time to visit,” the retailer says in a LinkedIn post.

“We've analysed our shopper behaviour over the past couple of weeks to find the quietest time to head into store - of course some stores will vary slightly,” it adds.
