Coop Estonia tests out Cleveron grocery robot
Coop Estonia has deployed the Cleveron 501 robot for curbside grocery pickups.
This is capable of storing fast moving consumer goods and frozen food and has been tested for three months on the outskirts of Tallinn at Laagri Maksimarket. The two companies will now discuss further cooperation.
Customers choose a pickup time and receive a code as soon as their order is ready. When they arrive at the robot, they enter the code and receive their items in seconds.
Cleveron’s CEO Arno Kütt says: “This partnership started in record time despite the current circumstances. Usually, negotiations could last months but this project was launched in two weeks. A very positive example of how two big companies can be quick and flexible in finding solutions.”
Coop Estonia’s E-commerce Manager Mait Mäesalu, comments: “The capacity is twice as big and the loading process is much quicker compared to regular grocery lockers.”
Cleveron, the company that developed the Walmart pickup towers, also recently launched an outdoor parcel locker for SMEs, named Cleveron 351. It says that this gives smaller companies a chance to continue delivering goods even when bricks and mortar stores are closed.
Use cases include the delivery of online ordered beauty products, electronics or building equipment, as well as the handing over of keys, documents or rented items.
