UK online retailers are making basic checkout errors
Four in five of the UK’s biggest online business do not offer Apple or Google Pay to shoppers, according to research by Stripe.
The PayTech big hitter reviewed the top 450 e-commerce websites in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Sweden.
It also found that 32% of the most visited UK checkouts allow customers to submit transactions with invalid card numbers. Two-thirds, meanwhile, do not translate into other European languages. Whilst only 12% allow European consumers to pay using mainstream local payments methods.
Iain McDougall, UK & Ireland Country Manager at Stripe, says: “These easy to fix checkout errors could be costing businesses important revenue. Now is not the time to be leaving money on the table.”
“Businesses invest heavily in getting customers through the virtual door of their online shop, so to then throw the sale away because your checkout page isn’t up to scratch makes no sense, and yet it happens all the time.”
