Swisslog did not specify the number of units or their locations, saying H-E-B considered that sensitive competitive information.
The latter is based in San Antonio, with more than 400 stores throughout the state of Texas, as well as in northeast Mexico. It also operates Central Market, a fresh food emporium.
"Swisslog is pleased H-E-B put their trust in us to automate and support their facilities with state-of-the-art automation and software," says Mitch Hayes, VP of E-commerce and Retail, Swisslog Logistics Automation, Americas.
"Covid-19 and anticipated behavioural changes have created increased urgency around the need for automation within many grocery operations. E-grocery automation is no longer an option…it's a requirement for survival and continued growth."
