Giant Eagle deploys Grabango tech at GetGo Café+Market store

Grabango has announced the first commercial use of its checkout-free system.

The startup has partnered with Giant Eagle, owner of GetGo Café+Market in the US, with its tech first being made available at a store in Fox Chapel, which serves the Greater Pittsburgh community.

Shoppers can download the Grabango app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. They then enter the store as normal. There is no check-in required, and no turnstiles or other special gear at the front door.

The system automatically accounts for all selected items. People can skip the checkout line and scan the code in the app on the way out. They then receive a receipt in the app.

“We’re excited to bring checkout-free technology to our Pittsburgh area shoppers. Our GetGo guests are able to get in, get out and get going even faster with a more convenient, contactless, shopping experience,” says Laura Karet, President and CEO at Giant Eagle.

“We look forward to success at our Fox Chapel GetGo and to rolling out more Grabango powered convenience and grocery stores in the near future.”
