Morrisons launches delivery service for self isolating students
Morrisons has announced an SOS ‘Serve our Students’ food delivery service aimed at those who are self isolating in halls and campuses during the coronavirus outbreak.
This will launch at the Birley and Cambridge Halls at Manchester Met University, which has been particularly affected by the lockdown measures around student accommodation, and will expand to other universities if successful.
Students at those campuses will be able to email Morrisons to place their order today and it will be delivered to them tomorrow between 5pm - 7pm.
Moving forwards, they will be able to order by 2pm for delivery that evening. There will be no delivery charge for this week’s service to Manchester (with the charge usually being £2) and more locations will be added during the week.
David Potts, Morrisons Chief Executive, says: “Students have asked for our help and that’s why we are making sure they can safely access affordable food at this very difficult time. We’re playing our full part in feeding the nation so that no one is left behind.”
There are five different food boxes to choose from - Meat Essentials, Vegetarian Essentials, Easy Meals for the Week and Big Night In. And not a single Pot Noodle in sight. Tsk, the youth of today…
