Curry’s PC World calls on kids to enter Do The Robot competition

90% of UK parents think home schooling amid the coronavirus pandemic will have long-term implications for their children’s development, according to research from Curry’s PC World.

The retailer surveyed 2,002 parents of school children aged under 13 years old.

67% are wracked with guilt with having to balance their careers and their children’s education.

Two-thirds are having to share their work laptops with their kids and one in five admit their work laptops are exclusively used for schoolwork.

STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects seem to be a big cause for concern. Whilst 85% of parents would like their kids to be more involved in this area, just over a third feel confident in teaching their children these subjects.

To encourage such learning, Curry’s PC World has enlisted children’s TV stars Dick and Dom and launched a nationwide Do The Robot competition for kids under 13 to design their dream tech robots.

The winner of the competition will bag a £5,000 shopping spree at Curry’s PC World as well as their creation professionally illustrated and showcased in stores across the country.

Dean Kramer, Director of Consumer Electronics, Currys PC World, says: “We can’t wait to see the robot creations and having the chance to have the winning design in Currys PC World stores across the nation will be a very exciting first for us.”

“The design will be used to showcase the wide range of amazing kids technology available, helping children find the best devices to learn, study and keep entertained.”
