Alan Hornsby departs Walgreens Boots Alliance for The Very Group

Alan Hornsby is joining the technology team at digital retailer and financial services provider The Very Group.

He starts work today, in a consultancy role.

Hornsby was previously at Walgreens Boots Alliance. Acting as a consultant, he served as Lead Enterprise Architect for European divisions for a cloud migration of on-premise applications to Azure.

“Really enjoyed working with all the team at WBA/Boots,” he said in a LinkedIn post.

“Karl Wintrell (CTO at The Very Group) and Mark Billingham (Group Customer Care & CX Director - COO Financial Services) see you Monday!”

Andy Burton

In October of last year, The Very Group said that its Chief Technology Officer, Andy Burton, would depart in February 2021 to take on a new role in a different sector.

Burton joined in 2019 from The Stars Group, an online gaming specialist, where he became a director following a merger with Sky Betting and Gaming in 2018.

The Very Group made the announcement as it reported a return to profit, with revenue topping £2 billion for the first time.

Formerly known as Shop Direct, it owns the Very and Littlewoods brands.

Matt Grest now leads the tech team and is also part of the executive board.
