Ozon Tech IT lab opens its doors in St. Petersburg
Russian e-commerce venture, Ozon, has opened a new IT lab in St. Petersburg.
It plans to hire more than 300 developers and engineers at the facility in 2021, making it one of the largest tech employers in the city.
Anton Stepanenko, Chief Technology Officer at Ozon, comments: “Our business started in 1998 in St. Petersburg. It was here that Russia’s oldest online retailer was created, and today it has become a leader of the fast growing e-commerce market.”

“Without a doubt, some of the country’s best IT specialists work in St. Petersburg. For that reason, we immediately considered opening an office in the northern capital when planning the development of Ozon Tech in the Russian regions.”
IPO
In November of last year, Ozon went public on the Nasdaq in an IPO that valued the company at $6.2 billion.
It is part of Ozon Group, which also owns the online travel booking platform Ozon.Travel and a stake in Russia's largest digital bookstore Litres.
The current CEO is Alexander Shulgin, who joined the company after serving as CFO and later COO at Yandex.
