EcoCart raises $3m after launching during Covid pandemic

Sustainable shopping startup EcoCart has raised $3 million in seed funding led by Base10 Partners' Chris Zeoli.

The US-based company has developed an e-commerce plugin for merchants to offer carbon neutral orders and a Chrome extension for shoppers looking to lower their carbon footprint.

"We believe EcoCart is reinventing how brands interact with their customers while also managing and addressing their environmental impact at scale," Zeoli says.

"It represents a solution that is helping reverse decades of harmful climate change.”

“Base10 is proud to be partnering with the founders as they continue to make carbon neutral shopping the new checkout standard for industries including retail, micromobility, food delivery, and more."

‘Big milestone‘

Earlier this month, EcoCart moved into its first office space, after launching during the coronavirus outbreak.

“Today marks a big milestone for EcoCart. Having built and launched the company in a pandemic and with amazing team members all over the world, it means that much more to now have a hub where we can strategise, collaborate, and laugh together,” Dane Baker, Co-founder and CEO, tweeted.

He added: “We fundamentally believe in not relying on only in-person collaboration. We will always be a decentralised team.”

“But boy, does it feel nice to have a place for us to gather. The team is growing, and we want to work with the best of the best.”
