Amazon taps latest retail technology for London hair salon launch
Amazon has announced the launch of Amazon Salon, an experiential hair care and styling venue where the e-commerce giant will showcase new products and technology.
This will be set over two floors and more than 1,500 sq. ft. on Brushfield Street in London’s Spitalfields.
Customers will be able to experiment with different virtual hair colours using augmented reality technology.

There will also be the option to point at the product they are interested in on a display shelf, with the relevant information, including brand videos and educational content, appearing on a display screen.
To place an order, they can scan the relevant QR code on the shelf to visit the product detail page on Amazon.co.uk and purchase, with delivery to their home.
Entertainment will be available on Fire tablets at each styling station and people can capture their new looks in a dedicated creative area.
Hair care and styling services will be provided by Elena Lavagni, owner of Neville Hair & Beauty, an independent salon based in London.
“We have designed this salon for customers to come and experience some of the best technology, hair care products and stylists in the industry,” says John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager, Amazon.
“We want this unique venue to bring us one step closer to customers, and it will be a place where we can collaborate with the industry and test new technologies.”
Amazon Salon will initially be open to Amazon employees only, before taking bookings from the general public in the coming weeks.
There are no current plans to open any other such locations.
