Ocado is slowly rolling out its mobile app to customers
Ocado is getting its mobile app back online as demand for its service soars during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The online grocery retailer has today issued an app update as it rolls out mobile shopping to a small number of customers “to make sure we’re offering the best possible experience”.
It says it will release it to more shoppers as soon as possible. In the meantime, people are being encouraged to continue their use of the website until they are advised otherwise.
Good news! We’re collecting bags for recycling again. Just pack up your leftover bags into one single carrier bag, and your driver will take one bagful per delivery. We refund 5p a bag, and up to 99 bags per delivery. Find out more: https://t.co/1fVstrazSu pic.twitter.com/WMpoqItTm4

Ocado took the app offline as it wasn’t ready to cope with the load of more customers amid the coronavirus outbreak.
We’ll take it from here
In September of last year, Ocado began selling and delivering food from Marks and Spencer rather than Waitrose.
M&S had splashed out £750 million to acquire a 50% stake in Ocado’s retail business.
Ocado’s Chief Executive Tim Steiner hit out at Waitrose as the two got ready to officially part ways, ending a 20 year relationship.
He told The Sunday Times: “They [Waitrose] have done an advert saying ‘we’ll take it from here’ or something.”
“Well, they can’t take it from here because they don’t have the technology, the infrastructure or the systems. To put it bluntly, they don’t understand the online market like we do.”
