Shein becomes most downloaded shopping app Stateside
Fast fashion e-commerce venture Shein has moved past Amazon to become the most downloaded shopping app on iOS and Android in the US, according to data from App Annie.
The China-based startup, which is reportedly valued at more than $15 billion, mainly focuses on women's wear, although it also offers men's apparel, children's clothes, accessories, shoes, bags and other fashion items.
Shein’s main focus is currently on Europe, America, Australia, and the Middle East.
It was founded in October 2008 by Chris Xu, with the philosophy that "everyone can enjoy the beauty of fashion”, and covers more than 220 countries and regions around the world.
As of 17th May, Shein was the top iOS shopping app in 54 countries and also number one in that category on Android devices across 13 countries.
