Jysk stumps up €200m for new distribution centre in Lelystad, Holland

Danish furniture and home furnishings retailer Jysk is investing €200 million in a new distribution centre in Lelystad, Holland.

Construction will be begin in spring 2022, creating more than 350 new jobs once the facility is fully operational.

This will be Jysk’s tenth European DC (it recently opened the ninth one in Escer, Hungary).

“We are really happy with the location in Lelystad. It is very close to the harbour of Flevokust, which is a logistics hub in Holland, making it easy to transport our products to and from the distribution centre,” says Executive Vice President Logistics at Jysk, Allan K. Kjærgaard.

The DC will deliver products to the retailer’s stores and customers in Holland, Belgium, UK and Ireland.

It is set to be operation by mid-2024.

Social media powered store managers hiring spree

Earlier this year, Jysk launched a store manager recruitment campaign as it looked to hit 5,000 stores worldwide.

In February, it reached 3,000 stores.

Its campaign will run both internally and externally across the likes of LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube and feature the slogan: “Want to join our 3,000 store managers?”.

“In this campaign, we have two main goals: to celebrate our existing 3,000 store managers, who are proud to be part of JYSK, and to attract the future, the hungry talent, who will help us reach further in our journey to 5,000 stores. When you grow, we grow, as we like to say,” says Kateryna Babenko, HR Director.

She adds: “We say that a store manager can make or break the store. That is why our existing 3,000 store managers are the main heroes in this campaign.”

“It is amazing to see that although they are so different, most of them share many of the same characteristics and hobbies.”

The campaign will run at different times in the 28 countries where Jysk is present.

Poland kicked things off on 21st April, and Austria will be last up on 13th June.
