Amazon veteran Devesh Mishra joins Deliveroo as Chief Product and Technology Officer
Deliveroo has announced the appointment of Devesh Mishra as Chief Product and Technology Officer.
Mishra will have responsibility for Deliveroo’s tech org, which contains the food delivery company’s engineering, data science, design and product development functions.
Sitting on the executive team, he will start work in early September.
He joins from Amazon, where he has spent the past 16 years.
Most recently, Mishra was Vice President, Global Supply Chain at the e-commerce giant, overseeing a team of thousands made up of engineers, data scientists and product managers, operating a supply chain spanning 185 markets.
Before that, he was Director for Amazon’s WW Inventory Buying and Sourcing, where he was responsible for over 200 product lines in nine countries, supporting +$40 billion of revenue.
The next stage
Deliveroo’s Chief Technology Officer, Dan Winn, will continue in that role.
The current Chief Product Officer, Akshay Navle, is leaving the company, which yesterday hit its highest share price since it floated on the London stock market in March, after it disclosed that German rival service Delivery Hero had taken a 5% stake, to pursue another opportunity at an unnamed FinTech startup.
Deliveroo CEO and Founder, Will Shu, says: “Devesh is a world class tech talent and we are delighted that he is joining the team.”
“He has unique and unmatched experience in how technology can help to scale a business and deliver world leading consumer experiences.”
“He will help take Deliveroo to the next stage in our journey. Devesh will work with the team to ensure we are delivering unique experiences for our consumers, restaurant and grocery partners, and riders, as well as developing new innovations as we seek to become the definitive online food company.”
Mishra comments: “I’m humbled and excited to join Will and the Deliveroo team to become the ‘definitive food company’. I’m a builder at heart and love building cutting-edge technology and products to provide the best customer experience and scale businesses globally.”
“We are at the inflection point in how our customers eat and their relationship with food. I’m excited to be part of a company leading that change in such a large and important market.”
“Deliveroo has reached a super impressive scale with an impressive growth rate, but there is a lot of opportunity ahead and lots of building to do. I am thrilled to be joining this winning team and contributing to the entrepreneurial and innovation culture.”
