M&S Tech goes on software engineer recruitment drive

Marks and Spencer has kicked off a drive to recruit 70 software engineers over the next year as the retailer looks to boost its digital transformation push.

In support of this, it has launched a new bespoke careers page on its website called M&OS.

This features a black JavaScript interface with clickable links and coding tasks for candidates to complete to find out more about M&S, simulating the operating system they’re used to using in their field of work.

For example, to view a message from CTO Mike Yorwerth, people click on the ‘Terminal’ button and type in ‘message’ using their keyboard.

After navigating the resources on the site, they can click in the top right corner to search for jobs, ranging from Software Engineer to Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer.

“At M&S Tech, we’re working to establish ourselves as a destination for the very best tech practitioners around. Our team is based on the principles of creative thinking, innovation, and above all, trying something different - and that’s what our bespoke M&OS site is all about,” says Yorwerth.

“With the recruitment of these 70 new roles, combined with our existing pool of tech talent, we’re putting responsibility for our digital transformation in the hands of some seriously inspiring software engineers - which makes me really excited for the future of M&S Tech.”
