Bob Black takes on Deputy Chairman role at e-commerce technology firm Doddle

Doddle, a specialist in white labelled technology that powers Click & Collect, returns and ship from store offerings for retailers, carriers and postal operators, has appointed Bob Black as Deputy Chairman.

Black has over 35 years’ experience in the retail and logistics sectors in the UK, Europe, Asia, Oceania and the Americas.

He has held a number of senior roles at TNT, including Managing Director Benelux, Managing Director Australia/NZ & Pacific Islands and Chief Operating Officer UK & Ireland.

Prior to joining Doddle, he spent six years at Australia Post where he was Group Chief Operating Officer.

During his time there, Australia Post partnered with Doddle to launch a network of pick up and drop off (PUDO) locations to support online shopping.

As part of the arrangement, Doddle provided its PUDO technology to Australia Post’s existing 4,300 post offices and 350 locker locations, and supplemented those locations with a network of thousands of new locations including supermarkets, department stores, pharmacies and petrol stations.

Black says: “I am excited to continue my involvement with Doddle – this time as part of the team.”

“The work that we did together at Australia Post was a game changer and helped make the online shopping experience seamless, giving customers the flexibility they wanted with the ability to collect and return parcels when and where it suits them. I intend to help other organisations and their customers across the globe reap similar benefits.”

Tim Robinson, CEO at Doddle, says: “Bob’s experience and knowledge of the retail and logistics sectors are unrivalled and he also brings with him a unique perspective having previously been on the customer side.”

“He understands the pain points a retailer goes through and this will help to drive our product development roadmap. Having the best people on board is key to our continued success and Bob is a great asset to the team.”
