Meta preps bricks and mortar first with Meta Store launch

Meta (or the company formerly known as Facebook) has announced Meta Store, its first physical retail space, which will open on 9th May on its campus in Burlingame, California.

Visitors will be be able to get hands on experience with all the firm’s hardware products.

An online post states: “Through interactive demos, you can make video calls to retail associates with Portal, learn how Ray-Ban Stories can help you stay present with the world around you, and explore the magic of VR with a first of its kind immersive Quest 2 demo.”

“We’re also making it easier to shop Portal, Ray-Ban Stories and Quest all in one place online, in a new Shop tab on meta.com.”

It adds: “At the Meta Store, we want you to interact with everything. We want you to pick stuff up. We want you to feel it.”

“At roughly 1,550 square feet, the Meta Store has a relatively small footprint for an engaging experience. It was also important for us to launch the first one near Reality Labs HQ, where we’re helping build the metaverse.”

The ultimate goal is “to show people what’s possible with our products today, while giving a glimpse into the future as the metaverse comes to life — and hopefully demystifying that concept a bit in the process.”
