AiFi powers autonomous store at Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix
AiFi has enabled autonomous shopping for racing fans at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.
The event took place from 6th-8th May at the Miami International Autodrome in Miami Gardens, Florida, United States.
It was the first edition of the Miami Grand Prix and the fifth round of the 2022 Formula One World Championship.
The Hard Rock Stadium Express Shop, powered by AiFi’s autonomous store platform running on 5G and mobile edge compute, allowed event attendees to avoid long lines and grab snacks and beverages, and go.
They tapped their credit card upon entering, then shopped, exited and they received a receipt via text in minutes.
Zabka and Carrefour City+
AiFi has now activated 62 locations worldwide, including 43 stores with Zabka.
Other projects include Majid Al Futtaim, which owns and operates shopping malls, retail, and leisure establishments in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, launching checkout free store, Carrefour City+, last year.
A first for Carrefour worldwide and situated in Mall of the Emirates, store access and shopping payment is enabled via the MAF Carrefour app.
Once inside Carrefour City+, every item picked up by customers is automatically added to a digital shopping basket and the purchase is completed by walking out.
“Carrefour City+ has been designed to make life easier by using technology to remove friction and enhance the retail experience,” said Hani Weiss, CEO at Majid Al Futtaim Retail.
“The store represents a huge leap forwards for retail in the UAE and region as Carrefour continues to innovate to meet the needs of the present whilst anticipating future shopping trends.”
Carrefour City+ stocks over 1,300 items, including snacks, beverages, packaged food and food-to-go meals as well as basic essentials.
