Fitness brand Gymshark promotes Carly Natalizia to CDO as it brings entire digital customer journey into one place

Gymshark has announced the promotion of Carly Natalizia to the newly created role of Chief Digital Officer.

Natalizia joined the British fitness apparel, sportswear, and accessories manufacturer and retailer in 2022, taking on the role of VP Marketing, International, before becoming Global Marketing Director in 2023.

She was previously at The Very Group, where she served as Chief Marketing Officer.

She will report directly to Founder and Chief Executive Ben Francis.

The company said in a LinkedIn post: “Gymshark has moved to bring its entire digital customer journey into one place across digital marketing and digital experience, and we're thrilled that Carly will head up this new function.”

“She will be responsible for scrutinising and optimising the digital journey to better serve Gymshark’s audience and ensure digital growth for the brand for years to come.”

It added: “Since joining us almost two years ago, Carly has made a huge impression on Gymshark and has brought so much knowledge, insight and impact to the brand. This new function will need very strong leadership. And we can think of no better person to lead this than Carly.”

Google Cloud

Gymshark is harnessing Google Cloud’s data analytics and AI tools to boost customer experiences, including improving the breadth, relevance, and availability of its product offering.

It will use Vertex AI, in particular, to create new assistants that will guide consumers through the product selection process and improve the Gymshark training app experience.

And it will also tap Google Cloud’s BigQuery to replace the central repository of all data, as well as Looker, a unified business intelligence platform, as its visualisation and reporting tool.

“We are proud to work with a British grown company and to be part of Gymshark’s global growth journey. With our technology, the Gymshark team is now equipped to go from digital native to data native and unlock transformative experiences for customers all over the world,” says Helen Kelisky, Managing Director, Google Cloud, UKI.

“We have come a long way since founding Gymshark 11 years ago, and we are ready for this partnership to kickstart the next phase of our transformation and future growth,” says Francis.

“Data is at the heart of this evolution, and with the help of Google Cloud’s game-changing technology and data analytics experts, we are certain that we will be able to reach our goals and remain a leader in this competitive industry.”
